Days off in Medellín: Retracing some family footsteps

I have a particular interest in visiting Medellín as my parents lived here for a couple of years back in the 60's. Apparently Colombia was pretty wild back in those days, they have some crazy stories to tell such as the time my father saw one guy shoot another over a parking space from his office window. It seems pretty civilized these days... I was impressed by the subway system and the modern infrastructure in the city center. We arrived at the tail end of the Fiesta de las Flores, tomorrow is the last day, but I still got to see a few of the festivities. Unfortunately I missed the "cabalgata" which is a parade of 6,000 horses that took place earlier this week.

Real life is calling so I'm going to be taking a month off the bike. The trip will resume some time in September...
