I pack up head out of Canyonlands today, only stopping in Moab for gas before heading south. I'm in need of a rest but Moab just rubs me the wrong way. At the gas station I settle on Durango, Colorado for a destination.

Haven't seen one yet on this trip.

In Durango I meet a teacher who recommends a motel for a weekly stay. I'm in the mood to stay put for a while, get some things done, sleep in the same bed for at least a few days in a row. The accomodations are spartan but it's good enough.

Saturday night, a bar, suddenly craving companionship. A place where no one knows me, missing a social network that can't be built in a few days. I haven't chosen my bar wisely... it's more of a restaurant that's already starting to shut down at 9pm. I console myself with a couple of tacos al pastor and a Perrier.

"Recreational Dispensary", in other words a pot shop. It's legal for everyone in Colorado.

Greta has clean oil.

The first day of fall brings a frost at night and snow high up in the mountains. It's looking like I'm going to have to head south earlier than I expected.
