At the hotel in the morning they tell me the mountains are all snowed in so I decide to catch the train to Cahors. A good thing I did because many of the roads are blocked. At one point we all have to get off the train and take a bus because the tracks haven't been cleared of snow yet. I spend the journey talking to a man who works for the SNCF (French national train company). He explains the procedures for dealing with emergencies like this, he's traveling as a passenger but at the same time evaluating how the personnel react to the situation.
In Cahors the weather is nice, I have an enjoyably short ride to my friends' house where I crash for a few days to rest, recover, and eat like a horse.
