More hot and flat today. At Santa Catalina I turned off the main highway to cut up to the coastal road. The connector was dirt and rock with a healthy dose of mud. When I got to the coastal road I had 50 kilometers left to Cartagena, as such I was expecting there to be more development along the beach with maybe some campgrounds but I came across nothing. At dusk I decided to ride down to the beach at a place called Punto Canoa because I was running out time to find a spot. Punto Canoa is a small, poor fishing village along a swampy section of the coast, could have been a Louisiana bayou. I dragged the bike through some mud to a secluded section of beach, put down the inflatable mattress with the mosquito net, and went to sleep. In the middle of the night I awoke from a vivid dream of people I know in Louisiana...
