I tried to sleep in as much as possible because I was running a deficit. I got up around 9:00, it had rained overnight but not too much. A ranger came by and introduced himself (Marcelo) and wished me Merry Christmas.

I figured I would take it easy today, being a holiday and all, and just head for the last free campground in the park. It turned out to be not such an easy ride. Nothing but bad ripio and some steep climbs. It was warm when the sun was out and chilly when the clouds rolled in.

I stopped at a campground to see if the store was open and ended up hanging out for a while with a father/son team who were cooking an entire sheep. The woman who ran the shop finally showed up and I got some pasta and a bottle of Pomelo.

Not much else to report today. Beautiful scenery along the lakes. At the last campground I got another fabulous campsite and was even able to make a fire for the first time on the trip. I cooked over the open flame to save some white gas. Cold, I mean freezing, bath in the lake. Bathing in mountain lakes and streams just completely sucks while doing it, but it feels awesome afterwards. Shaved by the campfire and cleaned the drive train on the bike. Messages from Buenos Aires and the States for Christmas.

Merry Christmas!
